Presentation at Technical Committee on Magnetic Recording & Information Storage

Technical Committee on Magnetic Recording & Information Storage of The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) was held at Research Institute of Electronic Communications, Tohoku University on June 7th and 8th.  Professor Yoichiro Tanaka presented his research results on “Storage Platform for Large Scale Data Analytics”.

The Technical Committee had 13 academic presentations with a main theme of storage research and co-hosted by IEICE and The Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers.  In the presentation of Professor Tanaka, he proposed “Application Defined Computing on Storage” which enabled high performance computing in the proximity of the data without spending huge resource for moving data. This is one of significant way to analyze huge size of data set in coming medical science application.
